KoiranenKoiranen bros. Motorsport driver Atte Mustonen finished in third position in the two Formula Renault North European Championship races held this weekend in Oschersleben, Germany.

Mustonen was in top form all weekend, finishing the Free Practice session with the 2nd fastest time, only 0.2s behind Portuguese Filipe Albuquerque. Tomi Limmonen was 14th, despite having badly injured his hand the previous day, and Johnny Cecotto struggled in 16th position.

The double Qualifying session was very positive for the team: Atte qualified 3rd and 2nd for the two races, Johnny was 9th and 8th , while Tomi was 10th and an excellent 5th for the Sunday race. Everyone in the team was very pleased for having all three cars qualify both times in the Top 10!

The first race was quite uneventful for all three drivers. Atte finished a strong third, keeping Albuquerque under pressure throughout the entire race, while Johnny and Tomi finished 7th and 10th .

The second race looked very promising for the team, but the end results turned out to be lower than expected. Despite losing one position at the start, Atte did a great job once again, and finished third, just behind Albuquerque and Van Der Drift. Unfortunately, in the second lap of the race Tomi spun out in a very fast section of the track. Cecotto, who was close behind, was caught out by this and spun into the gravel as well.

Koiranen bros. Motorsport will be in action once again in two weeks. The team will split up, and will be present at the 3rd Eurocup round in Misano with Atte Mustonen and Tomi Limmonen, and the 6th NEC round in Assen with Johnny Cecotto.
