Adrian Quaife-HobbsRising British single-seater racer Adrian Quaife-Hobbs has signed for Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Champions Motopark Academy Racing Team for 2009. Adrian will contest the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship and the North European Cup and will sign off 2008 with a one-off appearance in this weekend’s Winterseries round at Estoril.

The rapid teenager, in only his first year in Formula Renault, drove an impressive debut season in the hotly-contested championship, which saw him regularly up amongst the front runners and netted him fourth in the Italia Cup. Already since the finish of the racing season, the Sackville School pupil has undergone testing at Spa, Nürburgring and at the Hungaroring and was quickest in each session.

His performances during 2008 did not go unnoticed by Motopark boss Timo Rumpfkeil who was quick to snap up the 17 year-old BRDC Rising Star as he bids to retain the titles clinched this year with Valtteri Bottas. For Adrian, next year marks a serious bid for title honours and following a season that saw Bottas take five wins and ten podiums, is sure that the Motopark team based in Oschersleben, Germany is the outfit that can help his cause.

“I am really pleased to be chosen by Timo to drive for his team, as Motopark is such a professional run team, it is great to be part of this set up,” said Adrian. “Winter testing has been really good and I have settled in with my engineer and mechanics and I am looking forward to a good year ahead.”

Motopark not only won the Eurocup championship, the third time since 2004, but has also won the Formula Renault 2.0 Championship North European Cup for the last three years. Now looking to retaining its titles next year, Rumpfkeil is delighted with the news that former double T-Cars Champion Adrian will spearhead his team’s 2009 campaign in both series.

“I’m very pleased to have Adrian on board,” said Timo. “After some promising races Adrian had with us in 2007, we are really looking forward to a successful 2009 season. We have put together a strong winter programme for Adrian and we are sure that he will be one of the main contenders for both titles.”

The Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship is one of the most closely fought single seater championships in Europe, attracting more than 40 drivers from across the globe. Next year’s 14 race calendar will take in rounds at the leading circuits across Europe, once again supporting the World Series by Renault Championship.

Adrian will kick off activities with the team with a one-off appearance in the opening round of the Winterseries at Estoril on November 22. Thereafter a gruelling test programme, a total of 12 days before Christmas will set the Tonbridge teenager up well for this assault on the two series next year.
