Alexander RossiAlexander Rossi having won the last race at Brno, Alexander became the first American to win an International Formula Master race. The reigning Formula BMW World Final Winner then signed with the Czech Republic-based ISR team for the remainder of the season. Alexander is now looking forward to the start of the UK’s round of the Series with high expectations.

Rossi will contest rounds seven and eight of the International Formula Master Series at Brands Hatch this weekend. The 17-year-old from Nevada City, California, spent Monday circuit learning at Brands during an open track day driving a Palmer JP1-TS race car. The car served its purpose by allowing Alexander to feel confident in learning the line of the track and is now looking forward to getting his Tatuus – Honda up to speed.

“I’m looking forward to racing at Brands Hatch,” says Alexander. “It’s a relatively short course for Europe, but quite fast with blind crests and corners. These proved to be very challenging and a lot of fun.”

“The race in Brno and private test in Spa went quite well,” says Alexander. “In fact, I feel like my season is just beginning. From the moment I joined ISR at Brno, everything started to fall into place. Mr. Salaquarda was very supportive of our arrangement and I got on very well with my race engineer, Peter Berry. Winning at Brno was a confidence builder, however even moreso at Spa test. The timing is perfect after the difficulties I encountered since the beginning of the season. My plan at Brands Hatch is to continue the momentum we created with a pair of very strong finishes.”

Friday’s two practice sessions will be shorter than normal, due to local noise restrictions limiting to just 30 minutes each. With yesterdays on track sessions, Alexander and the team will be able to focus on developing the car’s performance before the afternoon’s qualifying session. “I feel fortunate that I was able to get on track Monday,” says Alexander, “this will enable us to concentrate on finding the optimum set-up for the quickest lap.”

“Alexander has great potential,” says Igor Salaquarda, ISR team owner. “I’m very happy to have him confirmed for the rest of the season because he’s very quick and he works well with Erik Janis, our other driver. Given the reduced track time this weekend, they will need to work together to improve the car. Alexander’s win at Brno was a good start and we must look to build on that and score more wins during the remainder of the season.”
