Alvaro ParenteAlvaro Parente had today a difficult qualifying for the first GP2 race of the Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix and will start from fourteenth, because of the track traffic.

The sinuosity nature of the Hungarian circuit played against the Portuguese youngster, with a red flag preventing him of extract the best performance from his first set of tires while with the second set it was the track traffic that didn’t allow him to fulfil his potential, clearly showed in the practice session with the fifth fastest time, albeit a electrical problem stopped him at the track.

In the beginning of the session Alvaro Parente reached the sixth fastest time, after a good lap with his first of tires, but a red flag – courtesy of Romain Grosjean and Franck Perera clash – and the traffic, fuelled by the competitive nature of the GP2 field, sent him to the fourteenth position of the grid.

This is a result that doesn’t please the Ocean Racing Technology driver that, nevertheless, ended less than a second from the poleman – Lucas di Grassi. “This was a very difficult qualifying. The car lost some performance with the temperature rise, but worse than that was the traffic and the red flag in the beginning of the session. I always gave my best, but when was being faster I caught a car in the last corner and that prevented me to improve my time” underlined the driver supported by Soccerade, Delta, TMN Aurora Group, Geotur and Cision.

In a circuit where overtaking is very difficult, it’s possible to anticipate a tough race for the Portuguese driver, but it’s expected, as usually, a maximum-attack race from him and, with a good race strategy, he might achieve a good result. “It won’t be easy to get a good result at Hungaroring, because here it’s very important to start from a good grid position. However, it’s is expected a fresher weather for tomorrow, and that may allow us to show the pace that we had this morning and this, with a good strategy, may permit us to reach the points”, said Alvaro Parente.
