Alvaro ParenteAlvaro Parente had today a hard day, achieving the eighteenth place of the grid for the Monza GP2 race, though he had some problems with his car.

After a magnificent victory at Spa-Francorchamps, it was expected that the Portuguese driver would keep showing his qualities at Monza, since that, usually, the Italian circuit set-up is very similar to the one used at the Belgian track. However, Alvaro Parente soon started to feel some difficulties with his Dallara Renault set-up and ended in Parabolica’s gravel after experiencing brake instability.

In the qualifying his situation didn’t improve and his problems were showed by the eighteenth time that he signed, leading the Ocean Racing Technology team, since that Karun Chandhok had the same problems that he had. “We gave our best, but we couldn’t do any better. Our car lacked general grip, something that didn’t gave us the confidence to attack in the best way the braking areas and the chicanes. In the end of the qualifying, with used tires, we took some risks with the kerbs but I spun”, said the driver supported by Delta, TMN, Aurora Group, Geotur and Cision, who will start tomorrow from seventeenth, courtesy of the grid penalty inflicted to Dani Clos.

The Ocean Racing Technology driver is aware that he will have a hard day tomorrow, but he is confident in his team and underlines that he will attack to get a good result. ”The first race will be very hard, because we will start from the back of the field. However, we will try to fix the problems that we experienced today so we can do the best we can and recover some places”, concluded Alvaro Parente.
