Menasheh Idafar - Rockingham Test, Day TwoCooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series racer Menasheh Idafar rounded-out this week’s opening test of the 2011 pre-season satisfied with his performance after concluding the two day run at Rockingham less than a second shy of the outright pace.

Although a somewhat frustrating day for the 19-year-old with numerous red flag stoppages in the morning hampering his progress, he managed to enjoy a more straightforward outing this afternoon, Wednesday, 2nd March. In the final session he posted a best time of 1m.11.577 seconds (97.57mph).

Placing the T-Sport driver 11th quickest overall, his fastest effort of the two days meant he ended the first official test of the year just 0.9 seconds away from outright pace-setter Felipe Nasr.

Menasheh said: “Today wasn’t exactly what we had hoped for, in the morning I just didn’t get a clear run at all so we weren’t as quick as we should have been. Thankfully in the afternoon we did manage to get some better laps in so, in the end, we were pretty competitive.”

Beginning day two at Rockingham with the 11th fastest time of 1m12.357 seconds (96.52mph), any improvements during the remainder of the morning weren’t possible due to the aforementioned red flag interruptions.

In the afternoon, the British-born Bahraini posted a time of 1m12.441 seconds (96.40mph) in session four to go 13th quickest on the timesheets before slicing a significant chunk of time off his previous best to end the two days with a best of 1m11.577 seconds (97.57mph) from the final run.

Next on the pre-season testing calendar is a visit to the home of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone in Northamptonshire, this coming Tuesday, 8th March, and Wednesday, 9th March. The first of the two days also forms part of the annual British F3 ‘Media Day’.
