Felipe NasrBrazil’s Felipe Nasr continued his outstanding start to the 2011 Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series at Oulton Park over the weekend (23-25 April), taking his third win from the first six races and with it a substantial lead at the head of the driver standings.

Immediately marking himself out as the driver to watch during the season-opener at Monza earlier in the month, where the 18-year-old dominated with two wins from three, the aspiring Formula One ace delivered another thoroughly professional showing at Oulton during rounds four, five and six.

Setting the fastest time in qualifying to secure pole position for the third of the weekend’s races, the Carlin driver also secured a front-row start for the opening encounter at the wheel of his Volkswagen powered Dallara F308 thanks to a consistently strong second best lap of the session.

Finishing runner-up during Saturday’s fourth round with a controlled performance, Nasr went on to take an excellent fifth place in round five on Monday morning – only a couple of seconds shy of the podium – having carved his way through superbly from eighth on the ‘reverse grid’.

Round six proved to be the true highlight of the weekend though with a dominant lights-to-flag drive from pole, the South American claiming a flawless victory by 3.3 seconds.

With three wins from six races, a total of five podiums for the year so far and a comfortable 34-point cushion over his closest rival, Nasr is certainly a true star in the making and a very realistic bet for the 2011 British F3 title.

Reflecting on his latest victory, Nasr said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to win again, I had a great start in the final race and managed to pull a nice gap on the first lap. After that I controlled the distance to the other guys and everything went really well. Thanks to everyone at Carlin for doing a fantastic job as always.”

Rounds seven, eight and nine of the 2011 Cooper Tires British F3 International Series will take place on 14/15 May at the Snetterton 300 Circuit in Norfolk.
