Menasheh Idafar - RockinghamT-Sport’s Menasheh Idafar made a strong start to this week’s official Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series test at Rockingham in Northamptonshire today, Tuesday, 7th June, by lapping 10th fastest overall on combined times.

Menasheh, who is currently 12th in the championship standings, started the opening day of testing at the venue’s 1.94-mile International Sportscar Circuit very well by going ninth quickest during session one with a time of 1m14.097 seconds (94.25mph) – within 1.1 seconds of the pace.

Markedly improving in the second of the morning runs, the 20-year-old lapped in 1m13.293 seconds (95.28mph) to close to within 0.6 seconds of the top of the times and this turned out to be his best effort of the day.

In session three, he posted a time of 1m14.053 seconds (94.30mph) but any hope of pushing for a possible improvement later in the afternoon was prevented by the onset of rain at the Corby track.

“We’re quite happy with how today has gone”, said the British-born Bahraini, “The morning went well, especially the second session, and I’m pretty pleased to be within 0.6 seconds. Hopefully tomorrow will be another good day for us.”

The Rockingham test concludes tomorrow, Wednesday, 8th June, and from there the British F3 competitors and teams will prepare for rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the season at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit in Kent. The fourth race meeting of the year takes place on 18th/19th June.
