Isaac TutumluFirst test day for Tutumlu, Spanish driver of Kurdish origin, at the wheel of Proteam Racing´s BMW 320 TC. Tutumlu improved his lap times over the course of the day and hopes to achieve a good result in qualifying on Saturday.

Isaac Tutumlu has made today his debut with his new car, a BMW 320 TC lined up by Proteam Racing, to contest the World Touring Car Championship. Young Spanish driver of Kurdish origins did not test this car until now, and it is the reason because of his aim was to put some experience under his belt. Tutumlu ran two of four free practice sessions and set a best time of 2:04.432, with room to improve yet.

“Today was a successful day, because it was mandatory to learn how my new car works, because the BMW is very different from last year´s Porsche. Lap after lap, I have closed the gap with the fastest
drivers racing in the Independents´ Trophy, all of them more experienced with this kind of cars than me. Likewise my engine was the same used in 2011 and my top speed was poor in comparison to others”, Tutumlu explained. He also added “we will be using our new engine on Saturday. I think to have a good race pace because, despite my problems with top speed on straights, was as quick as my teammate Mehdi Bennani in the slowest sectors. And Bennani was always a front-runner in the Independents´ Trophy”.

Tomorrow there is not track activity for WTCC drivers at Monza. Two free practice sessions are scheduled on Saturday morning, while qualifying session starts at 14.30 (CET).
