Daniel LloydRockingham International Sportscar Circuit hosts rounds 15 and 16 of the 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season next weekend, 22nd/23rd September, where impressive category rookie Daniel Lloyd aims to move further into contention for the coveted top three in the championship.

Achieving the fourth podium of his maiden Porsche campaign at Knockhill in Scotland three weeks ago, the 20-year-old Huddersfield racer’s first visit to the rostrum since winning round six, Daniel is confident he can continue his renewed momentum into the final three events of the season.

“Knockhill was decent enough, being back on the podium was what we needed and the consistent points we scored were good for the championship as well”, said the 2012 and 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar, “We’ve got a test on Tuesday at Rockingham so hopefully that’ll go well, it’ll be my first time there in the Porsche but I’m sure Team Parker will have a great set-up from the off.”

With the Northamptonshire venue’s 1.94-mile track configuration renowned for its abrasive nature, getting the most out of the Michelin tyres will be crucial to qualifying success and then looking after the rubber in race conditions will be absolutely essential.

Rockingham is a circuit where the TNT Post, TSD, Creechurch Private Wealth, Propack and TPA Yorkshire-supported driver has enjoyed good success in the past though – not least in 2009 when he won his first car racing title in the ELF Renault Clio Winter Cup.

“In qualifying I would think we’re going to have to be on it on the second and third lap of each run otherwise you’ll lose your chance and won’t get the time you need”, explained Daniel, “The track surface at Rockingham is rough and it eats away at the tyres very quickly.

“I’m just looking for more podiums next weekend. It’s really close in the championship, we’re not far off third and pretty close to second place actually. We’ve got to rack up as many points as we can in these last few races. It’d be amazing to end the year in the championship top three and we definitely have a great chance to still make that happen, that’s what I’m aiming for.”

Official testing at Rockingham will take place next Friday, 21st September, with qualifying for rounds 15 and 16 following on Saturday, 22nd September, at 13.55. On Sunday, 23rd September, race one is scheduled to commence at 10.40 with race two, which will be screened live on ITV4, on ITV4 HD and streamed online at the www.itv.com/btcc website, getting underway at 15.50.
