Sergio CanamasasA very good starting position for Sergio Canamasas at the final round of the GP2 series, which is taking place this weekend on the Singapore street circuit. The Catalan driver starts from 10th
position on the grid, but this position could have been much better.

At the halfway point in the session, when all the drivers were on their first set of tyres, Sergio Canamasas was lying in second position. Unfortunately, two rivals’ ruined the best attempts of the Spanish driver when on his second set of new tires, so he was unable improve his lap, which dropped him to the fifth row of the grid, very close to the seventh position he gained in Spa.

With a long race ahead tomorrow, Saturday, where the tension will be high because the championship title is going to be decided, Sergio will try to get his first points, something that is closer than ever for him as the first 10 drivers score points.

Sergio Canamasas: “Everything went very well with the first set of tires in qualifying and I could to get up to a provisional second place on the grid. However with the second set of tires I couldn’t improve my best lap, firstly because the car was very nervous, but mostly due to two drivers ruining my best lap. Nevertheless I only fell to tenth place, which is a very good result from which I can hope to get a good result tomorrow and in Sunday’s race.”
