Basil ShaabanPrema Powerteam was back to a points finish in the Formula 3 Euro Series thanks to Basil Shaaban. The Libanese driver experienced the best weekend of his career, ending up in 7th in Race 1 and scoring 3rd place on Race 2, a first-time for Lebanon on an international race’s podium.

Prema and Team Principal Angelo Rosin were delighted to have brought Basil to the top: “Basil is really appreciated by all the paddock because he’s fair on-track and a truly nice guy outside the circuits. This weekend has been memorable for him as he did everything just perfectly. On Race 1, he found the right opening to avoid a crash at the first corner, and moved from 18th to 7th. On Race 2 he recovered up to the 2nd spot, before settling 3rd, showing impressive pace”

Tim Sandtler, who took 21st in Qualifying, ended up in 12th on Race 1 and in 11th on Race 2, while Coletti, back from his GP2 Series crash, was involved in the f irst-lap tangle after clocking the 13th time in Qualifying. On Race 2 he started from the back, managing no better than 15th.

Stefano ColettiLast weekend’s race at Zanvoort won’t be one of the best memories of the 2009 Formula 3 Euro Series for Prema Powerteam. The fourth round of the 2009 season ended up with zero points in the Italian team’s toll, a disappointing result especially after the great display put together in the European Master held on the Dutch racetrack.

Stefano Coletti, who cruised to a podium spot one month ago, started from row 6, while Matteo Chinosi (22nd) and Basil Shaaban (26th after an off-track exit) couldn’t make their way into the top-20.Coletti then saw any chance to score points vanish in a first lap incident on Race 1, making his chances to get back at the top of the series’ standings even thinner.

Chinosi had to retire too, while Shaaban climbed up to 16th. On Race 2, Coletti recovered up to 12th, while Shaaban ended up in 19th and Chinosi suffered his second retirement of the weekend.
