The next 9th of November will be a day to remember for two drivers of the Prema Powerteam stable, as they will be able to move from their Formula 3 Dallaras to the mighty Formula 1 Ferrari that raced in the 2010 World Championship. Eddie Cheever, winner of the 2012 Italian Formula 3 European Series, and Daniel Juncadella, who took the FIA F.3 European Championship honors this season, will line-up for a dream experience behind the wheel of the most renowned Formula 1 cars available.

Thanks to a deal between the two promoters and the Ferrari Driver Academy, awarding a test on the F10 for the best racers of both championships, Cheever and Juncadella will have their first chance to drive a Formula 1 car.

“We’re absolutely happy to have contributed to such a dream achievement for our drivers – said Team Principal Angelo Rosin – they will be experiencing a unique opportunity in a few hours. Eddie is growing up consistently, while Daniel spent the last three years with us and now he’s ready to aim for some top results in the top open-wheel championships”.

Prema PowerteamIt hasn’t been an easy weekend for Prema Powerteam at Imola. The Italian circuit near Bologna hosted the Italian Formula 3 championship and Prema’s team-mates Eddie Cheever and Brandon Maisano had a tough time as they collided in Race 1 after having dominated the front row in Qualifying 1. The Italian had cruised to the pole in front of the Ferrari Driving Academy Frenchman.

After the disqualification of the original race winner – and Prema’s main rival in the hunt for title – due to a technical infringement, the win in race 1 went to Brazilian Henrique Martins, who had ended up in 5th and 6th in qualifying. Maisano finished in 8th, while Cheever was forced to retire. In Race 2, Maisano took third, followed by Cheever and Martins, while in the sprint race Cheever rounded out the top-5, with Martins ending up in 9th and Maisano in 10th.

Cheever is leading the European charts with 202 points, followed by Maisano (199). The Frenchman is on top of the Italian championship though, with 144 points, 8 more than Agostini. Cheever is sitting in third (130).

Angelo Rosin – Team Principal
“We faced a pretty intense and emotional weekend. It didn’t go as we planned, and some of the things that happened taught us a good lesson for the future. The most important thing is having retained the lead in both championships…”

Eddie Cheever will be joining the already-confirmed Brandon Maisano in the PREMA line-up for the Formula 3 Italia 2012. Cheever, son of former F.1 racer Eddie Sr., is back to the series for his sophomore season but, together with Angelo Rosin and His team, is now ready to raise the bar even further.

Born in 1993, he made his open-wheel debut in 2009 by entering the Italian and Swiss F.Renault championship. During the following season, he provided an impressive performance in the F.ACI CSAI Abarth Series before stepping up to an equally positive F.3 season in 2011.

Angelo ROSIN – Team Principal
“Eddie had a very early open wheel start when he was just 15. His improvement is evident when we look at his seasons in F.Renault, Abarth and F.3. He’s now ready to prove his full potential and showcase the experience gathered through a lot of racing activity, thus becoming one of the main stars in this season’s series.”

“I’m very proud of the agreement reached with PREMA POWERTEAM for the 2012 Italian Formula 3 Championship. The team, which is based in Vicenza, is one of the world’s benchmarks in F.3 racing and being part of their group is something that makes me proud and motivated. I cant’t wait to be on-track to start this brand-new program. I hope to gather some great results this season.”
